Hannibal Lecter's Office [UE4]

This environment was completed for a university module where I was tasked to recreate a room from a Film/TV Series. The beautiful architecture shown in Dr.Lecter's office from the TV show always appealed to me so the approach was to form a similar atmosphere whilst trying to replicate reality as much as possible.

Again, a modular PBR asset workflow was adopted for this project as several elements around the office were identical. Creating a selection of assets that could snap together to form structures from very little proved very advantageous. When lighting this environment, initially I intended to achieve a room lit entirely by artificial lighting from the ceiling, but then later realised the opportunity of sharp sunlight rays coming in from the outside.  During the production of this environment, I realised that I could not achieve what was intended for a deadline so subsequently cut the final outcome down to one set camera shot.  This environment piece was developed for 3-4 months with one week spent on refining/lighting changes.

Recently I was asked if I was interested in producing an article about the processes and techniques used for The Rookies blog.

I began with an accurate blockout of the scene with reference imagery and made sure to use a mannequin that was 6ft tall to ensure the scaling of individual assets was correct.

Some of the modular assets featured in the scene.

The lighting setup used to achieve the final outcome. It essentially consists of a range of directional lights and point lights with reflection captures placed about. A big portion of progress was formed in post-processing.
